Unknown assailants armed with firearms and cutlasses have attacked the family house of embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the early hours of Tuesday.
The news was first shared by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed details of the incident through his X handle on Thursday.
According to Makama, intelligence sources reported that Yakubu Ovanja, the Chief Security Officer to the Senator, informed authorities about the attack.
The assault took place around 1:00 a.m., with at least three armed individuals vandalizing the building, including shattering window panes.
The assailants reportedly fled the scene after carrying out the attack.
“Following a distress alert, a team of security operatives from Okehi Division swiftly mobilized to the scene. While no casualties were reported and no arrests have been made, the premises were documented and preliminary investigations have commenced.
“Police sources said the motive behind the attack remains unknown as investigations continue,” Makama said.
As of the time of reporting, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a well-known political figure representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has not made a public statement regarding the incident.
