A gadget vendor has been dramatically arrested inside an airplane — nine months after allegedly collecting nearly ₦2 million from a client for an iPad and Apple Pencil but failing to deliver.
The incident, which has stirred reactions online, was revealed in a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @Hybrid_Ola.
According to the posts, the client paid the vendor close to ₦2 million in August last year for the gadgets.
Despite repeated follow-ups, the vendor neither delivered the items nor issued a refund.
After months of unfulfilled promises and being ignored, the client finally took matters into their own hands.
Just as the vendor was about to travel abroad, authorities stormed the plane and arrested him — nine months after the initial transaction.
Reacting to the arrest on Instagram, the vendor seemed unbothered, posting:
“You say you’re a gadget vendor online, a client reached out to you to buy gadgets… paid you almost ₦2M which was the money agreed upon for the iPad and iPad pen since August last year.”
“But because you think it happened online, you can run away with the client’s money. Client Dey call you, Dey beg you to send money or what they paid for — you blatantly refused.”
“Client left you since last year… now fast forward to this year, you want to travel abroad, you don buy flight, do visa finish — client sent the cops to come inside the plane, bring you down and arrest you… now you Dey call me to beg client.”
In another post, he addressed the vendor’s wife, who allegedly pleaded for her husband’s release, citing their 4-year-old son:
“Using your 4-year-old son to blackmail me into asking the client to release your husband is plain wickedness. Did you not know you had a 4-year-old son when your husband refused to deliver what was paid for?”
“For now I’m on vacation. I can’t do anything from where I am right now… na even the special grace of God I take Dey online.”
The dramatic arrest, which came nearly a year after the failed transaction, has sparked discussions on social media about online vendor accountability and the risks involved in trusting unverified sellers.
