FULL LIST: Army promotes 108 generals

The Nigerian Army has promoted 35 brigadiers general to the
rank of major general and elevated 73 colonels to brigadier general.

In a statement on Friday, Onyema Nwachukwu, the army’s
director of public relations, said those promoted to the rank of major general
are A. Garba, acting provost marshal; U.M. Alkali, deputy chief of
administration at the directorate of veteran affairs; and A.G.L. Haruna, acting
general officer commanding 7 division and commander, sector 1, north-east
operation Hadin Kai.

 

He added that I.A. Ajose, acting general officer commanding
8 division and commander, sector 2, north-west Operation Fansan Yamma; N.B. Ebulue,
headquarters Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre; and L.G. Lepdung,
commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, were also elevated.

 

O.A. Awolo, director of military training at the Nigerian
Defence Academy, and U.G. Ogeleka, commander of Nigerian Army Space Command,
were among the newly promoted officers.

 

Other officers include O.A. Fadairo, commander of 12
brigade; O.D. Williams, commander of 22 brigade; J.R. Lar, commander of 32
brigade; and A.G. Mahmuda, commandant of the Warrant Officer Academy.

 

V.D. Beryo, commander of the Nigerian Army Special Forces
School, and A.O.D. Okoro, director of the army headquarters department of
special services and programmes, were also elevated.

 

S.O. Adejimi, director of movement in the department of army
logistics, and T.T. Sidick, director of finance at the Nigerian Defence
Academy, were also among those promoted.

 

Others include MCE Ejike, commander of Sector 2, joint task
force, north-east Operation Hadin Kai; M.F. Babayo, commander of sector 3,
north-east joint task force, Operation Hadin Kai; H. Yanet, commander of 51
signal brigade; and M.K Gara, army headquarters department of training.

 

B.P. Koughna, deputy chief of military affairs at Army
headquarters department of civil military affairs; I Otu, Nigerian Army
Heritage and Future Centre; A.O. Adegbite, headquarters Nigerian Army corps of
supply and transport; and I.E. Ekpeyong, headquarters Nigerian army corps of
engineers, were also elevated.

 

Additional promotions include A.A. Idris, army headquarters
department of army standards and evaluation; S.A. Gumel, Nigerian Army Resource
Centre Strategic Management and Policy Studies; and M.T. Jinadu, commander of
82 division ordnance services.

 

Other newly promoted officers are SA Jimoh, deputy director
of the tender board of the department of procurement, and U.T. Opuene, deputy
director of policy and plans at the Defence Intelligence Agency.

 

Colonels promoted to brigadier general include S.M. Iliya,
commander of 43 engineers brigade; O Igwe, commander of 78 supply and
transport; and N.E. Udofia, headquarters Nigerian Army electrical mechanical
engineers.

 

Others elevated are UR Okoroji, commander of 404 engineers
brigade; G.S. Oyinwola, Army Headquarters department of military secretary; and
S Ahmadu, Defence Intelligence Agency.

 

C.I. Nwonyi, commander of the 81 division provost group;
A.S. Aliyu, commander of 1 division military intelligence; and T Garba,
commander of 77 supply and transport brigade, were also promoted.

 

Further promotions include K. Imam, commander of army
headquarters garrison Ordinance Services; N.S. Onuchukwu, chief medical
director of 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital; and A Musa, commander of 108
division equipment support.

 

DM Baba, office of the national security adviser, and OA
Obochi, defence headquarters, were among those promoted.

 

Olufemi Oluyede, chief of army staff (COAS), congratulated
the officers and their families and urged them to redouble their efforts to
justify the confidence reposed in them.

 

Oluyede tasked them to lead by example, adopt innovative
approaches, and remain committed to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.

 

He reminded them of their oath to defend the nation and
maintain loyalty to the constitution.
