Fish for football: Bodo/Glimt fan trades 5kg fish for Spurs semifinal ticket

A Bodo/Glimt supporter has secured a ticket to watch the club’s historic Europa League semifinal clash against Tottenham Hotspur by trading five kilos of semi-dried fish.

With only 480 tickets available for Thursday’s clash in the Arctic Circle and over 50,000 eager fans, Torbjorn Eide, a fish farm production manager from Senja, decided to trade what he had in abundance: boknafisk, a regional delicacy valued at nearly 2,500 Norwegian crowns ($243).

“We produce Norway’s best boknafisk, and you probably can’t get it in Bodo city. So I thought maybe someone would want it,” Eide told NRK.

Oystein Aanes, who had a spare ticket after his brother dropped out, accepted the offer, calling it “just a fun thing.”

The creative exchange inspired another fan, Nils Erik Oskal, who offered five kilos of reindeer meat — and successfully secured his own spot.

“It didn’t take long,” Oskal said, unfazed by the trade’s estimated 1,000-krone value. “I get to experience something huge.”

Meanwhile, Bodo/Glimt are chasing history as they aim to become the first Norwegian club to reach a European final, but they will have to come from behind, after falling 3-1 against Spurs in the first leg.
