Fans of popular online personality VeryDarkMan have launched a campaign to cancel GTBank, accusing the bank of targeting the wrong person and advising Nigerians to close their accounts in protest.
This follows the alleged arrest of VeryDarkMan, reportedly on the orders of GTBank, after he visited a branch with his mother to protest unauthorized deductions from her account.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), a user identified as @WizardBJ4 described the incident as a major red flag and urged fellow Nigerians to take action.
“It’s time to cancel @gtbank. They’ve lost credibility by messing with the WRONG person, @thatverydarkman. This is a RED FLAG. I strongly advise y’all to close your accounts now. They are not RELIABLE and can’t PROTECT their customers. #FreeVDM,” the post read.
“PLEASE REMOVE YOUR MONEY FROM @gtbank until they free VDM or we know his whereabouts, show SIGNS of Serious Protests! Somebody cannot be moved from your Bank as BIG as VeryDarkMan @thatverydarkman @officialEFCC as how na? i don move d small savings I get there go my @palmpay_ng.”
Following the tweet, several other supporters of VeryDarkMan took to social media to announce they were withdrawing their funds from GTBank and pledged to mobilize further protests over the incident.
