Efe Warriboy Slams Benue Governor Over Public Holiday After Massacre

Nigerian comedian Efe Warriboy has stirred fresh outrage on social media after publicly slamming the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

Efe condemned the governor’s decision to declare Wednesday, June 18, a public holiday in honor of President Bola Tinubu’s visit, just days after over 200 people were massacred in Yelewata.

In a now-viral video shared via Instagram, the comedian didn’t mince words, accusing the governor of turning a blind eye to the victims’ suffering while playing politics with people’s lives.

He said in anger:

“A man lost 20 family members. And the governor’s priority is a public holiday to welcome the president? Tinubu should sneak in quietly, not come for a parade.”

Known for his bold takes on political matters, Efe also questioned the sincerity of the governor’s religious background, stating:

“Whether you’re a Reverend Father or Senior Pastor, once you get power in Nigeria, a demon enters you. And when you join APC, it gets worse.”

He further criticized the lack of an official mourning period following the tragedy and accused Governor Alia of attempting to leverage Tinubu’s visit for his 2027 re-election bid.

Efe praised former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom for consistently speaking out against killings, contrasting his leadership with Alia’s silence.

He questioned:

“Is Tinubu coming to commission roads or dead bodies? Even if you people signed a deal with foreigners to reduce Nigeria’s population, must you rub it in?”

His comments have sparked conversations online, with many applauding his fearless expression of public frustration.

@ebukaaustine28:“Over 200 innocent people killed, yet the governor declared a holiday to dance for Tinubu. I cry.”

@mrtee_king:“A man mourning his wife and 8 children should come out to cheer the president? This country is sick.”

@brosbmg:“The demon Efe spoke about is real. These politicians are heartless. This pain na real pepper.”

@desmondobi:“Where are the murderers of the Yelewata massacre? No arrests, no justice. Just decoration for Tinubu?”
