Latinate Sanusi, a mother of six, has declined to vacate her former marital home, citing her desire to provide proper care of her daughters as the reason for her refusal.

A Sharia Court in Kaduna officially confirmed the divorce of Abdulrazak Yunusa and his former wife, Latinate Sanusi, following three declarations of divorce.

Sanusi, however, requested to remain in the house to take care of their six daughters, citing her ex-husband’s alleged neglect of their needs.

“My children are all girls and I intend to stay so that I can take care of all of them; afterall he doesn’t provide most of their needs,” she said.

The husband, however, claimed that he provided for the family and divorced Sanusi on the ground of lack of submission.

After listening to both parties, the Judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, confirmed the three pronouncements of divorce between the couple, noting that there was no marriage between the couple until the woman remarries.

“What is before me is a suit on confirmation of divorce, the issue of the child’s custody can be filed as a fresh case,” the judge stated.
