Dessers voices frustration over lack of competitive action for Super Eagles

Cyriel Dessers has expressed disappointment over his continued exclusion from competitive fixtures for the Nigerian national team.

This is despite his consistent involvement in friendly matches.

The 30-year-old Rangers striker has featured seven times for the Super Eagles, registering four goals and an assist, but all appearances have come in non-competitive friendlies.

His latest showing was at the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London, where he impressed with a goal and an assist in just two matches.

Despite his output, Dessers has yet to earn a cap in an official competition for Nigeria, a situation he admits has been deeply frustrating.

“It hurts sometimes. It feels disappointing,” Dessers told ModZero Sports.

“I’ve been in and around the squad for five years now, and I haven’t played an official game yet, just friendlies. I am going to say that hurts.”

The Belgian-born forward has been overlooked for major qualifiers and tournaments, even during periods of strong club form.
