Dangote Cement PLC has denied reports on social media that it has reduced the cost of its 50kg bag of cement.
DAILY POST reports that a statement on social media has it that Dangote has directed the sale of one bag of cement at the promotional price of N2410, effective October 9.
The “false information” is coming barely one week after BUA Cement reduced its price from N5,000 to N3,500.
DAILY POST correspondent contacted the Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, who denied the alleged sales promotion.
Chiejina described the online report as misleading, mischievous, malicious and false, saying those behind it would be arrested and prosecuted.
“Management of Dangote Cement Plc has denied reports, in some online platforms that it has embarked on sales promotion and has further adjusted its prices,” he said in a statement made available to DAILY POST.
He added that the management has formally notified law enforcement agents to track down, name and shame the perpetrators of what he called the “devious and deceptive information.”
Chiejina urged Dangote’s customers to continue patronising the cement brand and be careful of scammers, who are bent on defrauding them of their funds.
Our correspondent reports that one bag of Dangote Cement is currently being sold between N5,000 and N5,500 in Ogun and Lagos States.
