Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has shared what he told Luka Modrić following PSG’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
Vitinha played a key role as the French champions dominated Xabi Alonso’s side at the MetLife Stadium in New York. Goals from Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos sealed the rout against the Spanish giants.
Speaking after the match, the Portuguese international revealed he had personally thanked Modrić for his recent praise.
Vitinha said (via MadridXtra): “I told Modrić thank you for what he said about me. It’s an honor to be able to share the pitch with him. He’s a role model.”
The Croatian legend, who is expected to join AC Milan in the coming days, had previously described Vitinha as the best midfielder in the world at present, praising him as a “game organiser.”
The 39-year-old’s endorsement has clearly left a strong impression on Vitinha, who expressed admiration for the veteran midfielder’s enduring influence and professionalism.
