Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi will be unable to join his teammates at the Club World Cup in the United States.
Taremi is stranded in Tehran due to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.
This has led to all flights from Iranian airports being grounded, following an exchange of military strikes between the two countries over the past two days.
Taremi was unable to board a flight to Los Angeles on Saturday.
According to Italian media, the 32-year-old will miss Inter’s opening fixture against Monterrey on Wednesday.
He will also be unavailable for subsequent matches, regardless of whether Iranian airspace reopens.
Taremi signed for the Serie A side from Porto last year. He made seven starts in Serie A this past season and came off the bench 19 times, scoring once.
He found the net for Iran in their 3-0 win over North Korea in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
