Zhang Yi, China’s Charge d’Affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, on Monday reaffirmed his country’s support for Nigeria’s infrastructural development.
He made this known during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network, a project overseen by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Yi noted that the water project symbolises the deepening ties between China and Nigeria and would serve as a foundation for further cooperation across other sectors.
He said: “This project is not only a major achievement under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his successful State visit to China last year but also a model of China-Nigeria cooperation and a symbol of the profound friendship between our two nations.
“The project was made possible with financial support from NEXIM Bank of China which provided a solid guarantee for its successful implementation.
“The successful completion of this project demonstrates China’s unwavering support for Nigeria’s infrastructural development and socio-economic progress.”
President Bola Tinubu and other eminent personalities are currently engaged in a series of project commissioning activities across the Federal Capital Territory.
The commissioning of projects completed under Wike’s leadership is scheduled to span a period of 10 days.
