Chelsea back Jackson after red card, no apology issued to teammates

Chelsea have stood behind Nicolas Jackson following his controversial red card against Newcastle United, with the striker opting not to apologize to teammates after the incident.

The Senegal international was dismissed during the first half of Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park, after VAR determined he had elbowed Sven Botman in an off-the-ball clash.

Despite the setback, club staff are reportedly supporting the 23-year-old and will not issue any internal sanctions.

According to The Sun, Chelsea consider the altercation to be part of the game and do not expect Jackson to offer an apology.

Instead, the striker is said to be focused on making amends by delivering a strong performance in the upcoming UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis on May 28.

Jackson’s suspension means he will miss Chelsea’s remaining Premier League fixtures against Manchester United on Friday and Nottingham Forest next week, a blow to their hopes of securing a Champions League place for next season.
