A financial platform known as Pryme has been accused of scamming a businessman of ₦7 million after allegedly refusing to release his funds despite multiple promises.
The incident came to light through a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Alaba589, who called out @MyPrymeApp for failing to fulfill its financial obligation to the businessman, identified as Mr. Emeka Joachim, a trader at Tradefair.
According to the posts, the platform reached out to Mr. Emeka in September 2023, urging him to invest in their services.
Trusting the platform, he went ahead and invested over ₦8 million, using Pryme’s POS machine for his transactions.
The trouble began when Mr. Emeka tried to withdraw funds from his account but was unable to access it.
After threatening legal action, the platform reluctantly credited ₦1.5 million to his Access Bank account—an account he did not originally register with the platform.
The platform later presented an investment plan in February 2024, claiming users could invest and receive profits every three months.
Mr. Emeka reportedly invested ₦6 million into the plan, unaware it might have been a scheme. Since then, he has been unable to access his account or retrieve the remaining funds.
An undertaking was reportedly signed by Pryme, promising to pay the balance of ₦7 million by September 29, 2024. However, as of now, the money has not been paid.
Supporting evidence—including a copy of the undertaking, statement of account, and photos of the Pryme POS machine—was shared online by the whistleblower.
@Alaba589 concluded by tagging the financial platform and demanding accountability: “@MyPrymeApp pay him his money!”
The issue has sparked reactions from users online, many calling for regulatory action and refund.
