Burna Boy’s latest solo, “Higher,” has become the most streamed song in a single day for an African song in Spotify’s history. Burna Boy song earned over 1.31 million streams on Spotify in its first full day of tracking, making it one of the most successful singles by the Grammy winner in recent times.
Burna Boy released the music video for the latest single a couple of days ago in his hometown Port Harcourt. The song is an anthem of resilience and hope and was officially debuted on June 28, 2024.
The record was posted in a series of “X” posts on his “X” handle, which read, “‘Higher’ earns over 1.31 million streams on Spotify in its first full day of tracking.”

The single is part of his latest project, titled “Project Protect,” in partnership with the charity organisation The R.E.A.C.H. The video features prominently in the video, emphasising his commitment to providing essential services to underserved populations in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, his album “I Told Them” re-enters the Top 40 of the UK Apple Music Top Albums Chart at #36 in anticipation of his sold-out concert. He also became the first African artist to headline two stadium concerts in the UK.
Burna Boy is arguably the most successful afrobeats musician in recent times in the country’s history, and “Higher” follows a landmark year in his career, marked by numerous significant achievements for an African artist.
Also recognized in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024, he made history in the US with the highest-grossing concert by an African artist and set a record in Canada for the highest-grossing tour by an African artist.
