A British landlady has sparked online debate after calling the UK police on her Nigerian and Ghanaian tenant, accusing him of cooking excessively and driving up her utility bills.
The incident came to light through a viral video posted on TikTok, where the landlady shared her frustrations.
She revealed that she has owned the property for nearly 30 years and has never experienced such high utility costs until she rented the apartment to the tenant in question.
In the video, she expressed her concerns, saying:
“I told him to leave, he reads my texts and doesn’t answer. I call him, he ignores me. Whatever I do, he doesn’t respond.”
She further explained the financial impact:
“I’ve never paid £50 for a water bill in this house, now I’m paying £400 to £500. I used to pay £99 for electricity, now it’s nearly £1,000 because he cooks every day, all day.”
