The State Head of Civil Service, Yahuza Adamu Ningi, made the announcement during a press briefing after the State Executive Council, SEC, meeting held on Wednesday.

He explained that the decision followed extensive consultations between the government and labour unions.

“Following these consultations, the State Executive Council has ratified the payment of N70,000 as the minimum wage for civil servants, effective November 2024,” Ningi stated.

Also, the Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, Aminu Hammayo, confirmed that Governor Bala Mohammed is set to present a proposed budget of N500 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly on Thursday.

Hammayo noted that the 2025 Appropriation Bill aims to build on the outstanding budget performance achieved in 2024.

Meanwhile, the state government has proposed N260 million for the perimeter fencing of the Bauchi State College of Agriculture, an agricultural resource manpower institution.

The Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Lydia Haruna Tsammani, revealed this during the same briefing.

She emphasised the importance of securing the institution, which is currently facing challenges such as land encroachment and security threats.
