The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Barr Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has condemned the killing of soldiers in Kwanan Duse and Gulbin Boka communities in Mariga LGA of the state.
He described the incident as “barbaric, wicked, and inhuman,” while expressing sadness and shock over the loss of lives.
In a statement he signed and made available to newsmen, Sarkindaji noted that the killing of the soldiers, who have long provided security in the area, is a serious catastrophe that affects not only the military but the entire state.
He stated, “I received the news of the killing of these promising young officers who have kept my constituency saved for a long time now with a heavy heart. This is wicked, barbaric and inhuman act
“This singular attack is a great setback for the entire farming communities in Mariga local government. My entire constituency is under siege. The unfortunate thing is that these wicked and heartless elements come from neighboring states to carry out their attacks on communities in the state.”
According to him, the attacks on the two military camps in the area on Tuesday has worsened the security situation in his constituency and the state in general.
Lamenting, he said despite all the efforts of the government towards addressing the problem, the criminals have continued to unleashed terror on the people.
The Speaker sympathized with the military over the incident, and urged them not to be deterred in their efforts to keep the entire state safe from terrorists.
“The state government will not relent in its efforts to ensure the military and other security agencies in the state are given the necessary support to carry out their duties.
“We urge the military to ensure that the perpetrators are not allowed to escape. They must tracked down and brought to justices.”
