The Australian government has revoked the visa of American rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, due to the release of a controversial track titled “Heil Hitler”, which has been criticized for promoting Nazi ideology. This announcement was made on Tuesday by Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke.
The track, which debuted in May, follows a series of antisemitic remarks West previously posted on social media, including statements like “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi,” shared on the platform X (formerly Twitter).
While West’s earlier comments did not lead to immediate immigration consequences, Minister Burke stated that the latest song triggered a reassessment of his eligibility to enter the country.
“It was a lower-tier visa, but once officials examined the lyrics and their implications, they concluded that someone promoting Nazism should not be welcomed here,” Burke explained. “Australia already faces enough challenges without importing more hatred.”
West, who is married to Australian-born architect Bianca Censori, has frequently visited the country in the past. However, officials have not disclosed the precise date on which his visa was canceled.
This move aligns with recent decisions by Australian authorities to deny entry to several controversial figures, including pro-Israel activist Hillel Fuld last month and U.S. conservative commentator Candace Owens in October.
