Antony slams Wroclaw pitch ahead of Conference League final clash vs Chelsea

Real Betis forward Antony has voiced his displeasure over the pitch conditions at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw, Poland, as his side prepares to face Chelsea in Wednesday’s UEFA Conference League final.

According to ABC Sevilla, the Manchester United loanee, who has been instrumental for Manuel Pellegrini’s side since joining in January, raised concerns after training on the surface, complaining about the uneven bounce and turf debris affecting his movement and control.

“There’s too much grass sticking to my boots. The ball’s not bouncing right,” Antony was quoted as saying. “It’s going to slow me down.”

The Brazilian winger, whose presence has added creativity to Betis’ attack, fears the conditions may disrupt his pace in a match where fine margins could determine the outcome.

With rain also forecast for Wroclaw on matchday, concerns over the state of the pitch could escalate, raising questions about playing conditions in a UEFA final.

Both teams trained on the turf earlier this week, with multiple Betis players reportedly echoing Antony’s concerns.

Antony, 24, is due to return to Old Trafford following the final when his loan spell expires.

However, Betis are understood to be interested in negotiating a permanent deal or renewed loan following his strong performances.
