In a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the event took place on June 7, 2025.

He said the police were informed by a resident that he was receiving threats from an unknown caller who was asking for a ransom of ₦1m.

The police acted quickly by opening an immediate operation alongside local hunters.

During a raid, one of the suspects, 32-year-old Manu Ahmadu, was arrested at a Kamsu village, Hong LGA where he had gone to withdraw money he had asked for, Nguroje added.

The suspect is said to have attempted to disarm one of the officers as he was being arrested.

“During the operation, one Manu Ahmadu, 32 years was apprehended at a certain location while attempting to pick up the package he demanded to be dropped at a particular place situated at a remote site of Kamsu village, Hong local government area.
