An Islamic teacher in Adamawa State, Malam Idris Abubakar, has been nabbed for alleged homosexuality with two of his pupils.
Operatives of the Nigeria Police arrested 22-year-old Idris of Gaya Ward in Mubi South Local Government Area after the parent of one of the boys established cause to suspect him and then reported him to the police.
Narrating their experience to the Police, the victims who are aged 12 and 10 years, said the suspect who teaches them Islamic lessons engaged them in menial domestic work after study hours, during which time he also got them to massage his body before he would commit the act of homosexuality with them.
He said they kept the reality to themselves because the teacher warned them of severe consequences should they tell anybody about his acts.
Also speaking, the mother of one of the boys told the police that her son used to complain of stomach ache and purging.
She said the complaint prompted her to investigate, with the boy initially refusing to tell her the whole truth until she threatened to take him to the police, after which he mentioned what had been going on between him and the Mallam.
On his own part, however, the suspect has denied the charge of homosexuality, admitting only that he used to engage the boys in domestic work.
Stating the stand of the Police, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje has said the state Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Ngoruje said the suspect would afterwards be taken to court for due legal process.
