Late Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso will be laid to rest today, September 24.
TORI earlier reported the death of the prolific artiste.
Punch reports that the Solatul Janazzah (Prayer for the Dead) was earlier observed for the singer in Ojota, Lagos State on Tuesday.
During the prayer, it was said that the final prayer and burial would take place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State on Tuesday at noon.
Also, a popular Islamic channel on YouTube and Social Media, YAYI TV, confirmed this in a Facebook post.
It read, “Alh. Rukayat Gawat is no more, May Allah be pleased with her – Amin.
“Her funeral (Janazah prayer) will take place in Ijebu Aiyepe Ogun State today by noon – may Allah be pleased with her soul.”
Brother to the deceased, Jubril Gawat, who is a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu quoted a Quran verse on his X account on Tuesday morning.
His post read, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.
