IK Ogbonna speaks out against fake miracles, calls CAN to take action amid I Am a Chosen trend

In a post on Instagram, he shared his disappointment, calling these actions a serious betrayal of Christian values.

He warned that these dishonest practices by some church leaders could damage the church’s reputation and exploit trusting believers, using their faith for selfish purposes.

Ogbonna cautioned that the consequences of these dishonest actions lead to lost trust, damaged lives, and the exploitation of people’s beliefs.

He urged pastors involved in such practices to think about what they are doing, stressing that misusing God’s name for lies is a serious betrayal of the gospel. Ogbonna called for change.

“To those pastors, it’s time to reflect—using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. To the victims, remember your faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception.”

He urged Christians to protect their faith and not let social media trends that ridicule or disrespect their beliefs influence them. The movie star added:

“Let’s also be cautious not to get carried by social media trends that disrespect and ridicule our faith. Christianity should never be used as a tool for likes, views, or viral content.”

Ogbonna also called on religious leaders, such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the government to be more decisive about the matter.

He pushed for tougher rules and accountability to make sure that those pretending to be pastors are held accountable for their behavior. Ogbonna concluded

“I call on the government and religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria to step up, regulate, and hold these bad actors accountable. Christianity is about truth, , and humility—not fraud, manipulation, or mockery.”

His remarks follow a social media trend where the phrase “I am a ” is becoming popular.

This comes after influencer VeryDarkMan criticized the trustworthiness of testimonies from members of The Lord’s Chosen Church.
