Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, has urged the
organizers of the EndBadGovernance protest to negotiate with the Federal and
the state governments.
Sani said with the nationwide address of President Bola
Tinubu, the organizers should suspend the nationwide protest.
He noted that democracy can only work when aggrieved
Nigerians opt to negotiate with their government.
Posting on X, Sani wrote: “After the President’s speech, the
Protesters should suspend their protests and raise a team to dialogue with the
Government at the Federal and state levels; there, they can negotiate on their
demands. That is how democracy works.”
Since Thursday last week, Nigerians have been protesting
against the hardship in the country.
The protesters had made several demands, including a return
of fuel subsidies, improvements in living standards, cut in the cost of
governance, reduction in electricity tariffs, and solutions to escalating
insecurity.
Following the protest, Tinubu addressed the nation on
Sunday.
