The Kano State Government has declared Tuesday as a public holiday to honour the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement was made by the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, through a circular signed on his behalf by the Director of Administration and General Services, Abdulkadir Shehu.

According to the circular, the public holiday is in line with the decision of the Northwest Governors Forum to pay tribute to Buhari, who passed away recently.

“Following the resolution of the Northwest Governors Forum to honour the departed soul of our former President, Muhammadu Buhari, I am directed to formally announce that the government has declared Tuesday, 15th July, 2025, as a public holiday in Kano State,” the statement said.

The government described the late president as a man of discipline, integrity, and selfless service to Nigeria.

“The decision comes in recognition of the exceptional life of service, patriotism, and sacrifice rendered by the late former president, who until his death remained an embodiment of discipline, integrity, incorruptibility, and selfless leadership.”

The circular added that Buhari’s death is a loss not only to the Northwest region and Nigeria but also to the world.

The government encouraged citizens to pray for the peaceful rest of Buhari’s soul.
