A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akindele Ayekooto, has claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may not emerge as a flag bearer in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post on social media platform X, Ayekooto suggested that Obi is likely to become the Director General of a joint Atiku-Amaechi presidential campaign instead.
“From the look of things, Peter Obi will be the DG of Atiku-Amaechi Campaign Organisation,” he wrote.
This speculation follows growing signs that Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and key figure in the ADC coalition, intends to contest in 2027.
Atiku has recently reaffirmed his anti-corruption stance if elected.
Similarly, Peter Obi has consistently indicated his plan to run again in the 2027 presidential election.
Meanwhile, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is also being tipped as a possible contender, fueling talks of a united front within the emerging coalition.
However, there are indications that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi would also join the race for the presidency.
