Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared the restoration of peace in Rivers State.
Wike said he, the suspended Governor of the State, Sim Fubara, and members of the state House of Assembly have settled their disagreement.
He disclosed this after he led Fubara and the suspended state lawmakers to visit President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa last night.
Wike and Fubara’s political crisis led to the governor’s suspension for six months and a state of emergency declared by Tinubu for the same duration.
Tinubu also appointed a Sole Administrator to preside over the state while the state of emergency last.
However, addressing journalists after the meeting, Wike said peace has finally returned to Rivers State.
He said: “Peace has finally returned to the state, we will work together with the governor and the governor has agreed to work with us.
“We are members of the same political family and yes, we are humans so there will be time for disagreement and time to settle your disagreement, that has been settled today.
“We have come to report to Mr President that this is what we have agreed; so for me everything is over and I enjoy everybody who wants to work with us to work with everybody as there will be no more acrimony.”
