1. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased prices of fuel from N910 to N945 in Abuja. It also adjusted its petrol pump price from N870 to N915 per litre at several of its Lagos retail outlets.
2. At least three family members were killed, while two others were injured in a fresh attack in Te’ebbe community, Miango district, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims, farmers from the same family, were attacked while harvesting tomatoes. The two injured men sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Jos for treatment.
3. The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, said on Monday that hunger and poverty are the catalysts fueling insecurity, violence and social disintegration in the country. According to the duo, the two challenges now constitute security threats to the country.
4. In a dramatic fashion, management and staff of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Secretariat, on Monday shut their offices and staged a mass walkout in protest against Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s attempt to forcibly reclaim his position as national secretary. The protest came after the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, appointed Setonji Koshodeo as acting National Secretary, an appointment the staff had earlier pledged to support.
5. The naira on Monday appreciated to N1,600 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,605 per dollar last weekend. But the Naira depreciated to N1,550 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).
6. Former spokesman of Northern Elders Forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has criticised the ongoing coalition discussion among Nigeria’s opposition parties, saying its leaders were not better than ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. He expressed concern that the opportunity to build a strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was being undermined by entrenched political figures prioritising their personal ambitions over collective progress.
7. The Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps on Monday said it had arrested one of the prime suspects who killed the ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Nelson Adepoyigi, after he was kidnapped by some armed men at the entrance of his farm along the Ifon-Owo Road, in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of the state last month.
8. Edo State Commander of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, on Monday, said the command confiscated drugs worth N777m and arrested 209 suspected drug traffickers, one of them is a female 300-level student of Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, in the last six months. He said the student who hails from Uromi in the Esan North East Local Government Area, claimed to have ventured into drug trafficking to offset the loan she collected from a microfinance bank.
9. The Benue Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) says it has registered 15 births while 122 women are still pregnant at the newly created Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp for IDPs from Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area. BSEMA Head of Administration Mr Donald Komgbenda, who made a disclosure on Monday in Makurdi while briefing newsmen, said that a total of 4,685 IDPs was registered.
10. The Chairman of Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Aliyu, says the commission recovered more than N20 billion and other properties from corrupt individuals in 2024..Aliyu said this on Monday in Ilorin during an interview on the sidelines of a Conference of State Attorneys-General in the North-Central Zones.
