An operative of the Department of State Services, DSS, has disclosed that members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, were caught with human heads.
The witness said during a raid on an ESN camp, DSS operatives discovered members of the group eating human flesh under the guise of spiritual fortification.
The operative identified as PW5-EEE disclosed this during cross-examination at the Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday.
He informed the court that the operations of ESN, the militia arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, resulted in the deaths of over 170 security personnel in the South-East.
“We saw some ESN members, about seven, with human heads and some eating human flesh, which they said was for spiritual fortification,” the witness recounted.
Meanwhile, the prosecution had closed its case in the ongoing terrorism trial of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Justice James Omotosho said the defence should file the written address on its no-case submission.
The judge also gave the Federal government 14 days to file its written address on the submission.
The trial was adjourned till July 18.
