Former MTV VJ and TV host, Ananda Lewis, has passed away at the age of 52, after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.
Recall that Lewis was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in 2020, which progressed to stage IV.
Ananda Lewis’s death was announced by her sister, Lakshmi, in a heartfelt Facebook post
Lakshmi described her sister’s passing as an emotional moment, celebrating the end of Ananda’s suffering.
The post reads,“She’s free, and in His heavenly arms. Lord, rest her soul”.
Notably, Lewis was known for her charisma and sharp interviewing style, hosting shows like BET’s Teen Summit and MTV’s Total Request Live, as well as her own daytime talk show, The Ananda Lewis Show.
She is survived by her 14-year-old son, Langston, and will be remembered for her advocacy work, particularly in raising awareness about breast cancer
The news of her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes, with celebrities paying homage to her influential work in the media.
