An Air India flight from Phuket, Thailand, going to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Friday.
The development came after a bomb threat, according to Thailand’s airport authority.
The pilot of the Airbus A320 reported the threat to air traffic control after a message indicating a possible bomb was discovered on board.
This was made known in a statement posted on official Facebook page of Phuket Airports, Thailand.
According to the statement, flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 showed the aircraft made a U-turn over the Andaman Sea shortly after departure and circled several times off the coast before returning to Phuket airport.
The incident occurred just one day after a separate Air India flight en route to London crashed in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, killing at least 265 people, including passengers and individuals on the ground.
