Carlo Ancelotti remains Brazil’s incoming national team coach, despite political turmoil within the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that saw its president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, ordered to step down by court ruling.
Rodrigues, the driving force behind Ancelotti’s appointment, was removed last week, raising questions over the future of the agreement with the Real Madrid manager.
But those fears appear to have been calmed. According to AS, interim CBF president Fernando Sarney has personally reassured Ancelotti of the federation’s commitment to the plan.
“This isn’t my decision, but I’m not going to change it now,” Sarney told reporters. “Public opinion approved it. There’s no reason to change it.”
Ancelotti, who will finish the La Liga season with Real Madrid before arriving in Brazil on May 26, enjoys broad support from key players and stakeholders.
His relationship with Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, likely pillars of Brazil’s squad, has only strengthened his standing.
Veterans like Neymar and Casemiro are also said to have expressed confidence in his leadership.
His first test will come quickly. Brazil face Ecuador on June 5, followed by a match against Paraguay on June 11, both key fixtures in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
