Victor Moses exits Luton Town after relegation to League One

Luton Town have officially parted ways with veteran Nigerian winger and former Chelsea star Victor Moses following their relegation to England’s third tier.

The club confirmed the Nigerian’s release in their retained and released list published on Friday.

Moses, 33, returned to English football in September 2024 on a free transfer after leaving Spartak Moscow.

Despite early optimism, his second spell in England fell flat.

He made just 18 appearances for the Hatters, scoring once across 1,135 minutes of action before being frozen out of the squad for the final 19 Championship matches.

A key figure in Chelsea’s 2016/17 Premier League-winning campaign under Antonio Conte, Moses reinvented himself as a wing-back and delivered six goal involvements that season.

He was also crucial in Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

The former Liverpool, Inter Milan and Fenerbahce player now enters free agency as Luton initiate a squad overhaul to reset in League One.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old forward Aribim Pepple, eligible for Nigeria, Canada, and England, will return to Luton when his loan spell at Chesterfield ends in June.

The striker, who has had several lower-league stints, could get a fresh look in a revamped Luton squad.
