According to Iran International English, in a fiery speech on Thursday 8th of May, 2025, Major General Hossein Salami, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), issued a stern warning to both Israeli and American officials, signaling heightened tensions in the region.
“This is a serious warning to Zionist officials, to US officials,” Salami declared during his televised address. “Make one wrong move, we will open up the gates of hell on you … Sit down and stay in your place; we have made extensive preparations.”
Salami’s comments come amid escalating regional instability and a series of tit-for-tat confrontations involving Iran, Israel, and Western powers. His remarks appeared aimed at deterring further foreign military actions or interference in what Iran perceives as its sphere of influence.
The Revolutionary Guard chief emphasized the country’s military readiness, saying that Iran had prepared extensively for any potential conflict. His rhetoric was underscored by recent Iranian military drills and reports of increased coordination among Iranian-aligned forces across the region.
While Salami did not specify what would constitute a “wrong move,” the tone of his remarks pointed to a potential retaliatory stance should Israel or the United States (U.S.) escalate military operations in the region. “We will open up the gates of hell on you,” he warned, underscoring the severity of Iran’s posture.
Officials in Washington and Jerusalem have not publicly responded to Salami’s statement, though both governments have historically dismissed Iranian threats as bluster, while continuing to monitor the situation closely. Analysts say the comments are in line with Iran’s strategy of deterrence through aggressive rhetoric and demonstrations of military capability.
Despite the heightened language, regional observers suggest Salami’s speech may also be part of a broader effort to project strength to a domestic audience, amid economic challenges and political pressures at home.
Still, the intensity of the message has drawn international attention, with diplomats and analysts watching closely for any further developments that could lead to a dangerous escalation.
