Carlo Ancelotti’s proposed switch to the Brazil national team is at risk of collapse due to a breakdown in talks with Real Madrid, ESPN Brasil reports.
Sources indicate that Real Madrid are displeased with both the timing and financial structure of the exit plan.
The club want Ancelotti to remain fully focused on the La Liga title race and lead the team into the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Despite prior optimism from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Madrid are unwilling to cover the remainder of Ancelotti’s contract, which runs until June 2026.
While Ancelotti has reportedly given verbal assurances to the CBF, Real’s reluctance to finalize his early departure has created an impasse.
Brazilian officials are currently in Madrid attempting to reach a compromise but are cautious not to force the 64-year-old’s hand.
Ancelotti’s second spell at Madrid, though decorated, has been marred by recent setbacks including a Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal and a Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona.
With five LaLiga matches remaining, Madrid trail their rivals by four points.
Brazil, meanwhile, remain without a permanent manager following the dismissal of Dorival Junior in March.
