Osun govt orders recovery of official vehicles from Oyetola’s appointees

State Government has directed that official vehicles carted away by political appointees during the Adegboyega Oyetola administration be returned to the state government.

This directive was contained in a White Paper by the state government on Thursday.

According to a statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the white paper also directed the setting up of a for the recovery of government vehicles carted away by officials of the Oyetola administration.

According to the statement, “Osun State government has today released six white papers, five on various committees which investigated issues raised by the executive orders issued by His Excellency, (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke at the inception of the administration in November 2022, as well as White paper on Education Summit.

“The White Papers earlier approved by the State Executive Council were finally ratified after further review by a special committee chaired by Governor Adeleke in line with the Governor’s promise to ensure due process, consultation and compliance with the rule of law.

“Among the white papers approved include those of Committees on Chieftaincy Matters, Contracts/MOU/Agreements review Committee, Solid Minerals Committee, Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, Staff Audit /Appointments/ Promotions review Committee, as well as white paper on Education Summit.

“The Government has directed the setting up of a task force for the recovery of government vehicles carted away by officials of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.”

DAILY POST recalls that the Adeleke administration upon assuming office in November, 2022, accused political appointees of the Oyetola administration of widespread looting of public buildings, including the governor’s and deputy governor’s official residences.

It also alleged that political appointees went away with official vehicles attached to their offices.

As a means of retrieving the properties, the Adeleke administration withheld their November salary and severance packages.
