BENIN CITY – THE Edo State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), former. Chief of Staff to Godwin Obaseki as governor, Taiwo Akerele on Thursday lauded the decision of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed the petitions against the election.
Recall that the Tribunal sitting in Abuja dismissed the petitions by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Action Alliance (AA) and Accord Party.
A statement by the Acting State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Joman Bernard said the victory was a sign of better things to come to the state and promised a good working relationship between organized Labour and the state government.
He commended Governor .Monday Okoebholo and his supporting deputy Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa on their developmental strides in the state.
He said “This victory is a sign of greater things to come for Edo workers and Edo people in general from your administration which has started very well and has gone far beyond our expectations already.
“As we open a new page for a new Edo that has Risen , The New leadership of NLC Edo state council assures you of a harmonious working relationship with your Government, for the betterment and upliftment of Edo workers and Edo people in general. “
On his part, Akerele who is one of the policy initiators in the state government called on the opposition to join hands with the Okoebholo government to achieve his dreams for the state.
He also said the Tribunal decision has formalized Okoebholo administration.
According to him “The ruling has put a stop to any doubt of the legitimacy of the Sen. Monday Okpebholo administration. It means the governor will now focused fully in delivering the promises he made to the people through the formulation of policies that would create economic prosperity for the state, employment and employment opportunities for our teeming youths, deploy needed resources to a sustainable education policy that would produce the next generation of leaders of the state.
“I urge the opposition to see this as a call to join hands with the governor instead of spending scarce resources pursuing what cannot be got.”
