Online critic Verydarkman, known as Martins Vincent Otse, is facing controversy after visiting China.
GistLover previously reported that he announced his trip and posted a video from the capital city.
The TikToker stated that he aims to tackle fraud and scams that impact Nigerian business owners and suppliers in China.
He noted that there have been many complaints from Nigerians about being scammed during business transactions, particularly when dealing with Chinese suppliers.
He wrote:
“Following the frequent complaints I get about a lot of Nigerians being duped by suppliers and middle men in China, I am here on a serious mission to join heads with some well-meaning Nigerians here in China to help combat online fr@ud between suppliers/manufacturers in China and business owners in Nigeria.”
As rumors about his quick departure circulated, Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu shared fresh claims regarding the activist.
On Instagram, he stated that VDM was in trouble in China and had been summoned by the Chinese police for questioning on March 2, 2025.
He encouraged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the issue.
Uche Maduagwu wrote:
“E Don happen. Information reaching me says VDM was interrogated for 2 good hours by Chinese Police yesterday.
“The question is WHY? This is bad. Why was he questioned for 2 hours by Chinese Police?”
