The large fee that Afrobeat artist Burna Boy, whose real name is Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, charges for performances has been disclosed in Nigeria.
A video circulating online features a radio host from Next Radio 106.1 discussing the singer.
According to her, the Last Last performer, who is caught up in a scandal with Sophia Egbueje, charges $1 million for shows outside Nigeria.
The media personality mentioned in the recording that when Burna Boy was invited to Kenya, he gave a discount, but they still couldn’t afford to have him at the event.
She claimed that the price was beyond their budget.
Furthermore, the OAP noted that Burna Boy typically asks for a private jet whenever he is invited to perform.
In addition to what he asked for, the woman insisted that the City Boy performer must be placed in a five-star hotel, while his crew and others traveling with him would need 60 rooms.
The OAP expressed her opinion about the singer, stating that her country cannot afford to bring Burna Boy, who faced criticism through a diss track, to perform.
Burna Boy isn’t the sole singer who charges a lot for shows outside Nigeria. Even though he is known as the most costly Nigerian artist to book, other musicians also set high prices for their performances.
Artists like Davido and Wizkid demand high fees to entertain fans at events. For example, the Ojuelegba singer charges between $800,000 and $1 million (N628 million to N785 million).
A flight must be arranged for him to travel to his destination. Likewise, Davido and Olamide receive $500k (N392m) for their show performance.
Rema and Tiwa Savage charge around $100k (N87m) each.
