The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Chief Samuel Olaolu, has expressed the party’s determination to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a press conference held on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Chief Olaolu warned President Tinubu not to be misled by claims of a guaranteed re-election in 2027.
He argued that Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current administration, citing insecurity, hunger, and poor economic conditions.
According to Olaolu, the people of Nigeria are eager for change and are ready to reject the APC government long before the next election.
“The Labour Party is set to take over governance from the APC-led federal government in 2027 because Nigerians are already hungry for the LP. Olaolu stated. “Today in Nigeria, there is no opposition party except the Labour Party.”
Olaolu also pointed to the internal crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alleging that external forces had infiltrated the party, which led to many members now joining the LP.
“You all know what is happening in the PDP now, how the powers that be have infiltrated the party. They equally infiltrated our party, until God came to salvage the party through the pronouncement of the Supreme Court, which is the pronouncement from God,” he said.
The Labour Party chairman expressed confidence that the LP is poised to take power in 2027, claiming that Nigerians are already “hungry” for the LP government.
He emphasized that the party’s recent victory in the legal battle over its leadership has positioned it as the only viable opposition in the country.
Olaolu reflected on the LP’s performance in the 2023 presidential election, recalling how the party had been dismissed as “poor men tweeting in their rooms.”
Despite the dismissive remarks, he pointed out that the LP secured over 6 million votes and claimed that they had, in fact, won the election.
“As we speak, many members of the PDP are now joining us because most of them are dissatisfied with what is happening in their party.”
On the country’s current state, he added, “With the insecurity, hunger, and poor economic situation in the country, most Nigerians are not happy with the APC-led government, and everyone knows the path to follow.”

“If we can have over 6 million votes in the 2023 presidential election, we are confident of getting more than three times that number in 2027.”

Olaolu also praised the Labour Party’s leadership following the Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the leadership of the Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee.
He described the ruling as a “pronouncement from God” that salvaged the party.
The Chairman emphasized that the LP is now focused on rebuilding and unifying its structure to better serve Nigerians.
“The Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee is dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition, promoting inclusivity, and fostering an environment where every member’s voice is heard.
“We are committed to the immediate integration of all willing members into the party’s activities.
He concluded by stressing the importance of moving forward with purpose and unity.
“Our priority is to move forward with purpose and unity, ensuring that the Labour Party is poised to meet the challenges ahead and represent the interests of all our constituents,” he added.
