A Nigerian commentator who goes by the name Mrbenspeak on social media has accused controversial activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, of manipulating public opinion in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
Mrbenspeak expressed concern over VDM’s growing influence in the digital media space, describing him as a tool used to sway the thoughts of unsuspecting Nigerians. He alleged that VDM’s consistent victories in court even in cases involving prominent legal figures like Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana raise suspicions about the forces backing him.
According to the analyst, VDM is part of a calculated effort to shape public narratives in Nigeria. He likened the situation to a dog protected by its powerful landlord, suggesting that efforts to hold the activist accountable have failed due to the clout of those allegedly shielding him.
The claims have sparked discussions online, especially regarding the potential influence of social media figures in shaping political landscapes.
